Archangel Michael is honored in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Michael in the Hebrew language means "Who is like unto God?". St. Michael has been depicted from earliest Christian times as a commander, who holds in his right hand a spear, and in his left hand a green palm branch. At the top of the spear there is a linen ribbon with a red cross.The Eastern Orthodox accord Michael the title "Archistrategos", or "Supreme Commander of" the "Heavenly Hosts."
*I made the icon used a decoupage technique. The image is mounted to the new wood that I have cut and sanded by hand. I have applied a special medium and varnish on the top, that makes it water resistant. The item is stained in the back, and sides are painted with gold around the image. With this technique the icon looks like ancient origin
