This is a hand wound 100% polyester 5 strand gradient yarn cake. Having 5 strands the colour change has a more subtle gradient than with the usual 3 strands of many other cakes.
It has 5 colours(light green, apple green, olive green, sage green) which change gradually throughout the cake. There are very small knots, but these are almost invisible once worked.
It is equivalent to a lace weight - 2ply yarn and can be worked up using any pattern for similar weight yarn. Items in photos were made from 1 cake by a customer using "Beyond the Sea" 1400m.
No two cakes will be absolutely identical, due to the nature of the production process.
We offer a choice of sizes of cake of approximately 150g, 900m or approximately 230g 1400m
Polyester yarn is soft, has a slight sheen and flows and drapes beautifully once worked up to your pattern. It is also hard wearing, and fade resistant.
We also do a range of solid colours in 50g, 100g and 150g cakes which work very well when used with the gradient yarns to make larger items, especially clothing, where you may only want the colour change as an accent rather than the main body of the work.
